Seahawk cagers sweep Mariners

The Seward basketball teams got a sweep of Homer on the road on Friday, as the Seward girls won 46-27 and the Seward boys took their game 54-25.

In the girls game, Ashley VonBorstel led Seward with 14 points and Jasmine Perea added 10. Homer’s top scorer was Tayla Cabana with 10 points.

Seward never let up in the game, outscoring the Mariners in every quarter of play.

It was more of the same in the boys game, as the Seahawks notched 22 points in the first quarter compared to Homer’s seven. Seward also dropped seven 3-pointers on Homer, three coming in the fourth quarter, hindering the Mariners chance of a comeback.

Matthew Moore topped Seward with 18 points, while Sheldon Hutt paced Homer with 12.
