Nikiski girls lose in semis

ACS girls 67, Nikiski 41

This is the tough semifinal matchup that was brought to the Bulldogs by the loss of a coin toss.

Nikiski, No. 2 in the south due to that coin toss, falls into the third-place bracket while ACS, No. 1 from the north, moves on to the title tilt.

The Lions took control from the outset, going up 24-4 after one quarter. Nikiski cut it to 32-24 at halftime, but ACS retook control after that.

Sarah Geagel hit five treys en route to 30 points for ACS, while Dallas Dickerson hit three bombs en route to 19.

For Nikiski, Emily Lynch had 10, while Rachel Thompson had nine.

Skyview boys 36, Homer 35

The Panthers, the No. 2 seed from the south, clawed their way back to a win over the Mariners, No. 4 from the south.

Homer's season ends while Skyview moves on in third-place play.

Homer led 12-5 after the first quarter and 25-14 at halftime. Homer even carried a 30-21 advantage into the final eight minutes before Skyview won that final quarter 15-5.

Jacob Carlson had eight of his 14 points in the final quarter, while DJ Collier scored five of his six. Sam Reinert had 12 for Homer.

Cordova boys 60, Bulldogs 51

A Nikiski squad that was filling it up from beyond the 3-point arc was done in by troubles from the foul line.

The Bulldogs, the No. 3 seed from the south, hit seven 3-pointers, but went 10-of-28 from the foul line in losing to Cordova, No. 4 from the north.

The Wolverines were 15-of-24 from the charity stripe.

Nikiski saw its season end, while Cordova moved on in third-place play.

Jacob Werner has 22 points for Cordova, and was 11-of-12 from the line. Also for the Wolverines, Eli Beedle had 15 and Dylan Cheshier had 10.

For Nikiski, Seth Carstens had 16 and Stephen Hartley had 13.

Cordova girls 37, Skyview 26

The Wolverines, the No. 3 seed from the north, took over in the fourth quarter to end the season of the Panthers, the No. 4 seed from the south.

Skyview stayed with Cordova for the first three quarters and went into the final frame with a 24-23 lead. However, the Wolverines won the final eight minutes 14-2. Mallory Merritt was huge in the final frame, scoring 11 of her 15 points. Hayley Ramsell paced the Panthers with seven points.

Homer girls 47, Grace 40

The Mariners, the No. 3 seed from the south, eliminated the Grizzlies, No. 4 from the north, and lived to fight Saturday.

Homer had a 25-17 lead by halftime and never let Grace back in the game. Tayla Cabana led the way for Homer, putting up 12 of her 17 points as the Mariners burst to a lead in the first half.
