The Kenai River Brown Bears defeated the Wenatchee (Wash.) Wild 4-2 on Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center to complete a three-game sweep of the Wild.
Wenatchee lost its seventh straight to complete a winless six-game trip in Alaska. Kenai River has now won 5 of 6.
The Bears improve to 26-24-6, while Wenatchee stays one point behind Fairbanks in the race for first place in the North American Hockey League West Division. Fairbanks lost to Fresno (Calif.) on Saturday.
Kenai Central product Zack Zulkanycz notched the game-winning goal with just 11 seconds to play.
With only a few seconds left on the power play, Jake Davidson got the puck to the net, resulting in a mad scramble for the puck. Zulkanycz was able to get the puck on his stick and bury it.
Then, with one second left, Davidson iced the win with an empty-net goal.
Zac Lazzaro and Alec Butcher also scored for the Bears.
Brown Bears coach Oliver David said Zulkanycz was the player of the game, and assistant captain Davidson deserves credit for a great last minute of the game.
