SoHi's Michael also helps Team Alaska to win

In addition to Soldotna High School’s Sadie Fox and SoHi graduate Bree Mucha, Soldotna senior Luke Michael also helped Team Alaska reclaim the Alaska Cup on Saturday in the Junior Nationals at Jim Whisenhant Ski Trails in Fairbanks.

Saturday, Michael finished up competition with a 15-kilometer mass start classic race. Michael, an Older Junior, finished 43rd in that race with a time of 50 minutes, 59.0 seconds, 6:45.5 behind winner Benjamin Saxton of Team Midwest.

On Thursday, Michael finished 22nd in the sprint freestyle races, making it all the way to the quarterfinals.

On March 12, Michael picked up a medal by finishing fifth in Older Junior in the 3-by-3.3-kilometer classic relay.

On March 11, Michael raced in an interval freestyle race. He finished 51st among OJ skiers with a time of 32:14.3.
