Local football players aim for Australia

Kyle Foree of Kenai Central and DJ Collier and D.J. Tourtelot of Skyview are seeking sponsors so they can be on the Western Conference Football Team in the Down Under Sports program.

Down Under Sports was founded in February 1989. According to the organization, it uses “the common language of sports to bridge the continents and provide a forum for athletes from around the globe to compete head to head in the sport they love.”

Foree, Collier and Tourtelot are raising funds to go to Australia and then Hawaii in early July. Those interested in donating can call Foree at 394-5104 or call Kerry Spooner at 741-8018 to find out how to donate to Collier or Tourtelot.

Those wishing to donate also can visit www.downundersports.com and enter the names of the athletes there.

Those donating will be entered into a drawing for a trip to Australia and Hawaii, or a five-day cruise for two.
