Flanagan finding continued success

800 Meters Indoor

Ever wonder how former star prep athletes end up performing in the college ranks?

Lierin Flanagan, the Alaska state record holder of the girls 400-meter dash (55.95 seconds in 2010), has since gone on to grab Big Sky All-Conference Track and Field honors, as well as a spot on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic Team in 2012 as a junior at Montana State University, Bozeman. She was also a medalist at the Big Sky Conference Track and Field Championships last year.

Currently studying Community Health and Sports Nutrition, Flanagan also holds the fourth-fastest time in the 800 meters at MSU with a time of 2 minutes, 11.51 seconds.

Flanagan was also a part of two MSU record-setting relay teams — the women’s 1,600-meter relay team with a time of 3:41.53, along with the distance medley record of 11:36.16, set this year.

Flanagan was the 2011 MSU Female Track and Field Freshman of the Year, and one year later, took the Most Improved Athlete of the year honors.
