Skyview softball drops games to Lathrop, Colony

The Skyview softball team played Lathrop and Colony in the Valley on Saturday, dropping both nonconference games to open the season.

“The wind was blowing 30, and it was 20 degrees,” Skyview coach Steve Schoessler said. “It was really windy and cold.”

Lathrop won 13-0 in four innings. Schoessler said his squad had three runners on base in the game, and the lone hit came from Cat Schoessler.

“Lathrop is a really good team,” Schoessler said.

Against Colony, Skyview lost 16-3 in four innings. All three of Skyview’s runs came in the first inning. Sam Reynolds and Cat Schoessler each went 2 for 2 with a run, while Schoessler also had a stolen base. Demery Garrant had a two-RBI triple and scored, while the other RBI went to Mykaela Ryback.

Soldotna and Skyview play at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Field 3 of the Soldotna Little League fields.
