3 Kardinal football players sign on college teams

Three Kenai Central seniors recently joined the list of Peninsula athletes moving on to hone their craft in college football.

J’von O’Neal was recruited as a wide receiver at Graceland University in Iowa, an NAIA school, on a partial scholarship.

Duncan Brewer also has a partial scholarship to play at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, an NAIA school, as a defensive tackle.

Finally, Grayden Mendenhall will be suiting up as a linebacker at Yuba Community College in Marysville, Calif., a 2-year junior college.

Kenai football coach John Marquez said all three players were instrumental to the Kardinals football team, which won the first Alaska medium-school state championship in 2011.
