Homer softball blasts SoHi

The Homer Mariners jumped out to an early lead on SoHi and captured a 13-0 victory on Wednesday at Soldotna.

Already up 4-0 after two innings, Homer scored six runs in the third to cruise to the win.

For Homer, Katie Kirsis hit 2-for-3, Hannah LaRue went 2-for-2 and Miranda Beach had four RBI.

Soldotna’s Maddie Wilcox was 2-for-2, and SoHi pitcher Serena Prior had six strikeouts, while Homer pitcher LaRue had three. The Mariners outhit the Stars 12-3.

Interestingly enough, the game leaves both teams tied in the Northern Lights Conference with 6-2 records. The Mariners travel up to play Houston on Friday and Wasilla on Saturday, and Soldotna is traveling to Anchorage for tournament play on Friday.
