Oilers dominate All-Stars

The Peninsula Oilers finished off a successful week with a 15-0 blowout in seven innings against the Anchorage Adult Baseball League All-Stars on Saturday at Coral Seymour Memorial park.

Buoyed by nine earned runs scored in the third inning, the Oilers recorded 16 hits against the All-Stars, compared to three hits from the All-Stars. Brandon Warner pitched all seven innings for the Oilers with nine strikeouts.

The All-Stars were short on pitching staff, which led to the game being called with seven innings in the books.

The Oilers’ bats were hot again, as Kyle Hunt led the team by hitting 3 for 5 with two runs and three RBI. Teammate Andre Mercurio hit 3 for 4 with three runs and one RBI and Dillon Dobson was 2 for 4 with three runs and two RBIs.

After starting with three runs in the first inning, The Oilers held a 4-0 lead heading into the third, which is where it got ugly. The Oilers got nine runs off of eight hits in the third inning, then recorded a run in each the fifth and sixth innings.

The Oilers will finish off their early slate of exhibition games with a 2 p.m. game Sunday against the All-Stars at Coral Seymour Memorial park, then the league schedule begins on Wednesday with a home game against the Mat-Su Miners at 7 p.m.
