Twins, Dimond split

The American Legion Twins split a pair of road contests with Dimond on Saturday.

 

The Twins are now 3-3 in the league, good for eighth place, and 3-7 overall. Dimond is 5-4 in the league, good for third place.

The Twins took the first game 20-10 in nine innings. The Twins banged out 22 hits in the contest.

Hector Rivera was 5 for 5 with two RBIs, six runs and four stolen bases, while Ethan Oliver was 4 for 7 with four runs.

Also for the Twins, Tommie Bowe was 2 for 5 with three runs and five RBIs, Dallas Pierren was 4 for 6 with three runs and five RBIs, and Colin Corsetti was 3 for 7 with three RBIs.

On the mound, Mitchell Dougherty pitched the first 2 1-3 innings, giving up three hits and three earned runs while striking out five.

Jake Arnold pitched the next 3 2-3 innings for the win. He gave up four hits and one earned run while striking out three. Ben Barton pitched the last three innings, giving up six earned runs and five hits.

The Twins lost the second game 13-12 in seven innings, giving up six runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Zach Haning pitched the first four innings and yielded six runs, while Corsetti then pitched two innings and gave up six runs. Pierren pitched the final third of an inning and gave up a run.

Bowe was 2 for 2 in the game, while Pierren was 2 for 3.

The Twins stay on the road to face South in a 12:30 p.m. doubleheader. South is currently at the top of the Legion standings.
