Skyview football overwhelms Valdez

The Panthers opened their final season with a dominating 42-0 win over the Buccaneers on Saturday afternoon in small-town Valdez.

Brandon Rice led Skyview with over 200 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. Rice produced a 65-yard run on Skyview’s opening drive that set the Panthers up within Valdez’s 20-yard line, but Skyview failed to score.

It wasn’t until Skyview returned a blocked punt on the next possession that they put points on the board for the first time, and the momentum lifted Skyview to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter and 42 points at halftime. Skyview coach Chris Finley said he substituted his starters for his backups in the second half.
