Bears' Oldham stars for Team USA

Kenai River Brown Bears goaltender Kris Oldham shined at the recent 2013 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament in Slovakia.

Team USA finished up a 5-0 run to the tournament championship with a 3-1 victory over the hosts Sunday. Oldham, of Anchorage, had 20 saves in the victory in nabbing Player of the Game honors for the Team USA.

Aug. 12, the U.S. had opened the tourney by beating Slovakia 3-1, with Oldham and Nicholas Vilardo combining for 21 saves. Wednesday, the team beat the Czech Republic 5-2 with Oldham making 21 saves. Thursday, Switzerland went down 7-1, with Oldham and Vilardo combining for eight saves. Finally, the team clinched the title Saturday by defeating Germany 9-2, with Oldham and Vilardo combining for 30 saves.
