Late team scores show SoHi girls winning Palmer Invitational

The Soldotna girls won the Palmer Invitational on Saturday in Palmer. Team scores were not available when the Clarion went to press Saturday night, but once they were tabulated the Stars came out on top. SoHi scored 78 points, while Homer was second with 100.

 

Olivia Hutchings led the Stars to the title, finishing fourth with a five-kilometer time of 19 minutes, 23 seconds. Also in the top 20 for the Stars were Dani McCormick in sixth at 20:04 and Sadie Fox in 12th at 20:22. Homer was led by Aurora Waclawski in 14th, Molly Mitchell in 15th and Megan Pitzman in 16th.

The Kenai boys were third in the Class 4A boys race. Jordan Theisen was second at 16:28, Jonah Theisen was eighth at 16:56 and Quincy Fuller was 18th at 17:33.

Seward was third on both the girls and boys sides.
