The Panthers grabbed a win on the road on Tuesday, sweeping the host Homer Mariners with game scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-14. The win improves Skyview’s Southcentral Conference season record to 2-0.
Cheyanne Laber lead the way with 15 kills and two blocks, while libero Casey Neill provided 16 digs and Emily DiPaolo had 23 set assists.
Skyview coach Sheila Kupferschmid noted that while it was a good win for Skyview, she was impressed with Homer’s game.
“I feel like they have a lot of potential there, and they might be a contender in the latter part of the season,” Kupferschmid said. “But overall I think we won the serve-receive game tonight, and we took over offensively.”
Hayley Ramsell added nine kills and two aces, and Sam Reynolds had seven kills and six aces for Skyview.
The Panthers were originally scheduled to travel to Cordova this weekend, but that has been scratched. Kupferschmid said it’s possible the team could play in the Houston Invite to replace the Cordova trip, but nothing is set in stone.
