The Nikiski volleyball team lost a pair of Southcentral Conference volleyball matches on the road this weekend.
The Bulldogs fell to Grace Christian 25-15, 25-12 and 25-23 on Friday, then lost to Anchorage Christian Schools 21-25, 25-16, 25-18 and 25-22 on Saturday.
“As long as we are learning and getting better every game, we are on the right track,” Nikiski coach Stacey Segura said after her squad dropped to 0-3 in the league and 0-4 overall. “I’m not upset about this weekend and the girls aren’t either. We learned a lot.”
Friday, Rachel Thompson had 45 assists, Rebekah Krogseng had six kills and Laura Hufford had 29 digs.
“They were a tough team,” Segura said of Grace. “They didn’t lose many girls from last year and they were pretty advanced.”
Segura said her team worked on defense a lot in practice, and Friday’s defense was the best it’s been all year.
Saturday, Thompson had 50 assists. Krogseng had 10 kills, Katie Costello had 12 kills, and Jodi Cook had nine kills and four blocks. Hufford had 40 digs.
