Skyview takes fourth at ACS Invite

In a meet that was represented by 40 wrestling teams, Skyview ended up tied for third in the team standings at the Lime Solar ACS Invite in Anchorage.

Sophomore Seth Hutchison tallied the lone individual victory for the Panthers — a 5-1 decision in the 113-pound division. Junior teammate Austin Craig made to the championship round in the 106-pound class, but fell in a 4-2 decision.

The Nikiski Bulldogs finished 13th in the team standings, led by sophomore Luke Johnson, who won the 195-pound championship match in a 7-6 decision. Teammate Taylor Handley won his fifth-place match with a pin after 2 minutes, 33 seconds in the 138-pound division.

Calvin Johnson led the Homer Mariners to a seventh-place team result with a pin over his opponent in the third-place bracket. Johnson pinned his opponent only 1:12 into the match in the 113-pound weight class. Teammate Jared Brant won his fifth-place match in the 106-pound class with a 12-3 major decision.

Skyview junior Bailey Blumentritt won his third-place matchup in a 9-2 decision at the 145-pound division, and sophomore Sage Hill made to the fifth-place match in the 195-pound division, but fell in a 3-1 decision.

Gavriel Kalugin won his fifth-place match in the 132-pound division with an 8-5 decision to boost Voznesenka in the team standings to 34th.
