Jackstadt finds way to UAA

Former Kenai River Brown Bear forward Alex Jackstadt committed on Saturday to play at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Jackstadt, who played for East High School in Anchorage, currently plays for the Fargo (N.D.) Force of the United States Hockey League. Jackstadt joins a Seawolves program that is currently ranked eighth of 10 teams in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association with a 6-6-2 overall record.

On the Fargo Force’s website, the 5-foot-7 player listed UAA as his favorite college hockey team to follow, which makes this transition all the more special.

After helping the Brown Bears to a near upset of Fairbanks last spring in the NAHL playoffs, Jackstadt moved up to the USHL this season, where he has been able to tally two assists. The Force has struggled this year to a 5-12-2 record, ranking them seventh of eight teams in the Western Conference.

During his one-year stint with the Brown Bears, Jackstadt accumulated 39 points (20 goals, 19 assists) in 59 regular season games, and recorded a points differential of plus-seven when he was on the ice.
