Update: Prep skiing schedule changed

Posted: December 4, 2013 - 11:36pm

Staff report

This weekend’s Homer Invite has been cancelled due to scarce snow conditions, but as the saying goes, “the show must go on!”

The races have been moved to the Tsalteshi Trails behind Skyview High School for two races on Friday and Saturday. Friday will feature a mass start skate race, with the boys varsity going out at 3:30 p.m. and the boys JV following two minutes later. At 3:40 p.m. the girls varsity will be released, while the girls JV will leave another two minutes after that.

Saturday’s events will feature an individual-start classic race, although race officials reserve the right to switch to freestyle (skate) if the temperatures are significantly warm. The girls varsity will start first at 11 a.m., followed by the girls JV. 15 minutes after the final JV girls starts, the boys varsity field will begin to be released, followed by the boys JV.

Racers will start 30 seconds apart from each other on Saturday.
