Kailey Mucha leads area skiers at Besh Cup 2

Kailey Mucha, a graduate of Kenai Central, led area skiers in the Besh Cup mass start freestyle races at Kincaid Park in Anchorage, finishing sixth in the Under-18 to Master women’s 10-kilometer race.

Mucha finished at 32 minutes, 52.3 seconds, while winner Kate Fitzgerald was clocked at 30:51.1. Also from the area, Soldotna graduate Bree Mucha was 12th, SoHi skier Sadie Fox was 14th, Kachemak skier Megan Spurkland was 20th, SoHi skier Hannah Pothast was 29th and Skyview skier Mika Morton was 31st.

In the men’s U18 to Master 15-kilometer race, SoHi graduate Brent Knight finished ninth at 40:37.6, while winner Scott Patterson won at 39:03.1. Also, Kenai Central skier Travis Cooper was 37th, Homer’s Brian Rowe was 64th, Kachemak’s Jan Spurkland was 65th and SoHi’s Levi Michael was 73rd.

In the U14 to U16 girls five-kilometer race, area skier Addison Gibson was 31st. In the U14 to U16 boys five-kilometer race, area skier Jeremy Kupferschmid was 26th and area skier Jacob Davis was 36th.
