Area skiers compete in Besh Cup 4

Soldotna High School’s Sadie Fox won the Under-16 and over, five-kilometer classic race on Sunday in Besh Cup 4 action in Homer.

 

Fox finished in 19 minutes, 38 seconds to take the title. Abby Amick was second at 19:48.

Fox now is tied for second with Sarrissa Lammers on the Besh Cup points list headed into the final two races. Fox and Lammers have 280 points, while leader Taryn Hunt-Smith has 340 points.

Also from the area, Soldotna’s Hannah Pothast was 18th at 21:47 and Skyview’s Mika Morton was 38th at 23:40.

In the men’s Under-18 and over, 10-kilometer classic race, Tanner Ramey reigned with a time of 30:59. Kenai’s Travis Cooper paced area skiers by taking ninth in 33:12.

Also from the area, Homer’s Brian Rowe was 20th in 36:10, SoHi’s Levi Michael was 26th in 38:18 and Soldotna’s Tanner Best was 32nd in 43:59.

Matthew Hoefler won the boys Under-16, five-kilometer classic race in 16:29. James Butler of Kenai Central led area skiers by taking 19th in 19:01, while John-Mark Pothast was 20th in 19:08 and Addison Downing was 22nd in 20:23.

Molly Gellert won the Under-12 and Under-14, three-kilometer classic race in 10:11. Addison Gibson led the area by taking sixth in 11:24. Also from the area, Riana Boonstra was eighth in 12:19.

In the boys Under-12 and Under-14, three-kilometer classic race, Ti Donaldson picked up the win in 8:44. Jeremy Kupferschmid led area skiers by taking fourth in 9:14.

Also from the area, David Michael was eighth at 9:50, Caleb Rauch was 22nd at 11:43 and Ben Kettle was 29th at 13:52.
