The Kodiak baseball squad picked up another win over Soldotna, routing the Stars 12-1 in five innings Thursday at the Soldotna Little League fields.

SoHi pitcher Joey Becher spent the first 3 1-3 innings on the mound, striking out four. Becher relinquished pitching duties to Tyler Covey, who went the last 1 2-3 innings.

Soldotna’s biggest problems occurred in the form of mistakes. Errors and other mistakes led to runs, as six of Kodiak’s first seven runs were unearned.

Kodiak took the lead in the first inning with a run, then broke out in the second with six runs.

“We should’ve had three good outs in that inning,” said Soldotna coach George Stein. “We had a ground ball misplayed, and from there the floodgates were opened.”

SoHi’s Mason Prior was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the second, then scored on a passed ball.

Kodiak scored a run in the third inning, and finished up with four in the fourth inning.

Max Conradi led the Stars (0-3) with 1-for-2 hitting.
