First week of Salmon Run, Cycle Series results posted

The first Salmon Run and Cycle Series races were held this week at Tsalteshi Trails.

The Salmon Run Series was held Wednesday, getting 99 runners despite a steady rain. Rex Shields took the top spot in the five-kilometer race at a sizzling 15 minutes, 26 seconds, while Derek Gibson was right behind at 15:27 and Jordan Theisen was third at 15:48. The top woman was Becca Ford in 20:07, while Courtney Stroh was next at 20:36 and Susan Craig finished at 23:26.

The Salmon Cycle Series was held Thursday, also in rain. John-Mark Pothast was the top men’s finisher at 32:30 on the course, which was just short of 10 kilometers. Adam Agosti was next at 32:31, while Jordan Theisen was third at 32:46.

Sadie Fox led the women at 35:26, while Hannah Pothast was next at 35:27 and Heather Schramm was third at 39:39.

Both the Salmon Run and Cycle Series continue this week. The Salmon Run Series will again be Wednesday, this time starting on the field behind Skyview High School and including the wolf loop, with part of bear, coyote and eagle’s perch, totaling five kilometers.

Online registration is at www.tsalteshi.org. The cost online is $10 per race for Tsalteshi Trails Association members, and $15 for nonmembers.

Before each 5K race, there will be a 1K race for children 6 and under, costing $5 online or the day of the race. Races start at 6 p.m.

The Salmon Cycle Series will be Thursday at 6 p.m. This week’s race will be on the upper trails. Races are $5 each, or free for TTA members. There is no online registration. Just pay before the race.
