CIA soccer tops Birchwood Christian

The Cook Inlet Academy coed soccer team opened its season with an 8-0 victory over Birchwood Christian in Palmer on Thursday.

Timmie Smithwick had five goals for the Eagles, while Connor Leaf, Andrew Hammond and Kate Zimmerman added tallies for CIA.

The squad will continue to Healy to play in the Tri-Valley Tournament this weekend.
