The Cook Inlet Academy coed soccer squad continued its winning ways Saturday at the 2014 Alaska Christian Schools Athletic Association tournament, crushing Birchwood Christian School 8-0 in championship game.

The win boosts the Eagles’ season record to 15-0, and continues a long winning streak of at least 40 games dating back two years.

Senior captain Riley Smithwick made the most of the last home game of his career by scoring two first-half goals, while brother Timmy Smithwick racked up four goals himself, bringing his five-game tournament total to an amazing 16 goals.

Johnny Smithwick added a pair of goals and Andrew Hammond rounded out the scoring with a strike of his own for the Eagles.

CIA also defeated Lumen Christi and Birchwood Christian School on Friday, with game scores of 6-0 and 9-0, respectively.

Johnny Smithwick contributed a pair of goals against Lumen Christi. CIA also got scoring strikes from Madison Orth, Andrew Hammond and Connor Leaf. The shutout was the sixth of the season for CIA, as Brady Hammond and John Grossl combined for the effort.

Timmy Smithwick took CIA to new heights in Friday’s win over Birchwood Christian by scoring six goals. Hammond added two and Johnny Smithwick had one.
