Kenai hosts SST competition

The sixth biannual Speed and Strength Training competition was held Wednesday at Kenai Central High School.

Students competed in the 40-yard dash, the I test or shuttle run, the vertical jump, the standing long jump and Fight Gone Bad. Fight Gone Bad was a 10-minute workout completing as many sprints and air squats as possible.

Kenai Central, Nikiski and Soldotna all competed.

The champions from Soldotna were John Boone in grade 9 and 10 Fight Gone Bad, Abby Kruse in 9 and 10 vertical jump, Alex Ashe in 11 and 12 40-yard dash, Lindsey Wong in 11 and 12 vertical jump, and Torri Hensley in Fight Gone Bad.

The champions from Nikiski were Hunter Holloway in 11 and 12 I test, Rykker Riddall in 9 and 10 I test, Larry Cutsforth in 9 and 10 40-yard dash, Rickie Smith in 11 and 12 40-yard dash, Arianna Parrish in 11 and 12 broad jump, and Laura Hufford in the I test.

The champions from Kenai were Abi Tuttle in 9 and 10 40-yard dash and I test, Josh Jackman in 9 and 10 standing long jump and vertical jump, Julieanne Wilson in 9 and 10 standing long jump, Tekaiya Rich in 9 and 10 vertical leap, Colten Richardson in 11 and 12 standing long jump and vertical leap, Kyle Foree in 11 and 12 Fight Gone Bad, Bev Schindler in 11 and 12 Fight Gone Bad, Hannah Barus in 11 and 12 Fight Gone Bad, Julieanne Wilson in 9 and 10 Fight Gone Bad, and Mackenzie Lindeman in 9 and 10 Fight Gone Bad.
