Day 2 of Junior Nationals

Day two of Junior Nationals in Truckee, California, kicked off Wednesday with freestyle interval start ski races.

In the men’s Under-20 10-kilometer race, Kenai Central senior Travis Cooper finished 20th with a time of 33 minutes, 42.1 seconds, just over three minutes behind race winner Lars Hannah of Steamboat Springs.

Kenai freshman Addison Gibson finished 34th in the U16 girls 5K race with a time of 19:52.9, just over 2 1/2 minutes behind winner Ezra Smith of Colorado.

Kenai freshman Karl Danielson finished 51st in the U16 boys 5K in a time of 17:48.6, just 2:33 behind fellow Alaskan and race winner Canyon Tobin of Anchorage.

In the women’s U18 5K, Soldotna senior Sadie Fox finished 4:39 behind race winner Katharine Ogden with a time of 20:42.4, good for 70th place.

The week-long competition continues Friday with 5, 10 and 15K classic mass start races.
