The Peninsula Oilers will hold their Central Peninsula Hospital Prostate Cancer Awareness game on July 12 at 2 p.m. at Coral Seymour Memorial Park. The game will be against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots.

Kathy Gensel, foundation director for the Central Peninsula Health Foundation, said special jerseys are made for the game with each player’s name on the back.

The jerseys are for sale for $150, with proceeds going to the Central Peninsula Health Foundation Prostate Cancer Fund, which is for education, awareness and patient assistance.

All the jerseys will feature a light blue ribbon, which is for prostate cancer. But the jersey of Oilers pitcher David Diaz, a Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor, will also feature a lime ribbon, the color for lymphoma.

Many of the jerseys are purchased by players and parents. Gensel said those wishing for a particular jersey can contact her at 714-4626, or look for information on oilersbaseball.com. That info should be up on the website soon.
