SoHi graduate Blackburn competes at nationals

Soldotna graduate Paige Blackburn competed at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships at Eugene, Oregon, at historic Hayward Field on Friday.

Blackburn threw the javelin 165 feet, 11 inches, to place 14th. Blackburn had tosses of 156-11 and 162-6 before getting the 165-11 on her final throw of the meet.

Two other former Alaska track stars earned a ticket to the world championships in Beijing on Aug. 23 to 30.

Jordan Clarke, a graduate of Bartlett High School, threw the shot put 70 feet, 6 1-4 inches, to take third place.

Eielson High graduate Janay DeLoach finished third at the meet in the long jump by covering 22 feet, 9.75 inches.
