The Kenai River Wolfpack Rugby Football Club will host the annual Kenai River Dipnet “Between the Tides” Rugby Tournament on Saturday at the Spur View Field off Frontage Road in Kenai. First game starts at 10 a.m. and the tournament runs to 5 p.m.
Nearly 100 players from men’s and women’s rugby teams from throughout the state will compete. Barbecue will be available all day thanks to volunteers representing a local nonprofit, The Habitation, for a suggested donation of $5. The Habitation is an organization committed to creating low-cost, self-built tiny homes for the homeless.
The Kenai rugby club practices every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Spur View Field in Kenai. The practices are open to all interested. Practices consist of safe contact drills and scrimmages to teach new players the fundamentals.
