Twins get No. 6 seed, open state against South

The American Legion Twins will open the double-elimation American Legion state tournament with a 9 a.m. game against defending state champion South at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage on Tuesday.

The Twins ended up with the sixth seed in the tournament, tying with four other teams with an 11-7 record. The tiebreaker used was fewest runs allowed, and Dimond took the No. 4 seed with 73, Valley was No. 5 with 80, the Twins were sixth with 83 and Fairbanks Post 11 was seventh with 98.

Other first-round games Tuesday at Mulcahy will be No. 2 Juneau vs. Fairbanks 11 at noon, Dimond vs. Valley at 3:15 p.m. and No. 1 Chugiak vs. No. 8 Fairbanks Post 30 at 6:30 p.m.
