Rex Shields and Jaycie Calvert were the top runners at the fourth edition of the Salmon Run Series on Wednesday at Tsalteshi Trails.

Shields crossed the finish line of the five-kilometer run at 16 minutes, 32 seconds. Derek Gibson was next at 16:41, while Brian Beeson was third at 20:04. Calvert was the first women’s finisher at 21:33, which also was sixth overall. Ithaca Bergholtz was next at 23:21 while Rebecca Harris was third at 24:09.

The fifth and final Salmon Run Series will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Skyview Middle School trailhead at Tsalteshi Trails. Each race is five kilometers long.

There also is a youth division. That’s a 1K race for children 6 and under before the 5K race. Proceeds benefit the Kenai Watershed Forum’s summer camps. Races are $10 for Tsalteshi Trails Association members or $15 for nonmembers. Registration is available at tsalteshi.org or before the race.
