Nikiski rolled to a 52-0 Peninsula Conference victory over Voznesenka on Saturday afternoon in Homer.

The Bulldogs racked up 400 yards of offense to 119 for Voznesenka, led by senior quarterback Cade Anderson’s 147 passing yards on 7-for-7 passing, including three touchdowns.

Dylan Broussard caught two of Anderson’s scoring passes, with receptions of 21 and 15 in the second quarter, to go along with a rushing touchdown as well, and Hunter Holloway caught three passes for 56 yards.

Voznesenka’s quarterbacks found life difficult, combining for five interceptions, including two by Broussard. Nikit Anufriev completed 5 of 15 passes for 3 yards, while David Sanarov was 2 for 10 for 38 yards. Sanarov led the Cougars with 17 carries for 30 rushing yards.

Matthew Minium led Nikiski’s ground game with 104 rushing yards on three carries, including a 70-yard scoring romp in the third quarter that capped the scoring. Rykker Riddall ran for 63 yards and a touchdown and Corin Cooper picked up 10 yards and a touchdown.

With the win, Nikiski kept its lead at the top of the Peninsula Conference standings with a 2-0 record (3-1 overall), while Voznesenka dropped into sole possession of last place at 0-2 (0-3 overall).

Anderson opened the scoring with a 42-yard bomb to Riddall to give Nikiski a quick lead, and Riddall extended the lead with an 18-yard scamper. Broussard and Cooper added short touchdown runs before the first quarter was up to give Nikiski a 27-0 lead.

The Bulldogs led 45-0 at halftime before the Minium touchdown blast.

The Bulldogs will host Houston next Saturday.

Homer 40, Seward 6

The Mariners picked themselves out of the Peninsula Conference basement with a rout of Seward on Friday night.

Sophomore quarterback Teddy Croft led the Homer charge with 3 for 6 passes completed for 88 yards and two touchdowns, and added 84 rushing yards and a touchdown.

“I knew if we didn’t take care of business, it would become a mundane season,” said Homer coach Josh Fraley. “We had the opportunity to keep our season going, keep the dream alive.”

Senior running back Josh Fisk compiled 50 yards on seven carries, including a touchdown, and added a two-point conversion as well. Fisk also had a 27-yard receiving touchdown.

Boston Felde brought in two passes for 67 yards, including a touchdown.

Fisk and Alex Stephens came up big for Homer on defense with two picks apiece. Michael Swoboda and Felde each picked up an interception as well. Swoboda also scorched six kickoff returns for 220 total yards.
