Homer Pee Wee Tier III takes state

The Homer Pee Wee Tier III hockey team won their third consecutive state championship by topping the Kenai Peninsula Ice Hawks 3-2 on Monday at the Kevin Bell Ice Arena in Homer in the Pee Wee Tier III State Tournament.

The squad also won a Pee Wee state championship in 2015 and a Squirt championship in 2014.

The tournament featured 12 teams from across Alaska. Before the final, Homer topped AHA Nibert 10-0, Tok 5-1, Mat-Su 10-0, Moose 8-0 and FAHA 2-1.

The Ice Hawks lost to FAHA 7-1 before beating the Mustangs 3-2, the Moose 5-1, Gomez 3-2 and Tok 3-0.
