Twins take 3 from Fairbanks squads

The dream season continued rolling Saturday for the Post 20 Legion Twins, who dominated Fairbanks Post 30 with a 10-0 and 8-3 league victories in Anchorage.

The Twins scored three runs in the first inning of the 10-0 game to take an early lead, then scored four in the bottom of the fourth to lead 8-0 and two more in the fifth to invoke the mercy ruling.

Gavin Petterson earned the win on the mound with a scoreless complete game, going five innings and giving up three hits and striking out four while issuing just one walk.

Fairbanks’ three, led by the 3-for-3 day by Tyler Covey. Josh Darrow added two hits as well, including a double, and Calvin Hills and Cody Quelland had doubles. Paul Steffensen added a triple.

The Twins would then win 8-3 later in the day.

Friday, the Twins topped Fairbanks 11 15-5 in eight innings are now 8-0 in legion play and 10-1 overall.

In Friday’s game, Cody Quelland was 3 for 6 with two RBIs, Paul Steffensen was 2 for 5 with two runs and two RBIs, and Josh Darrow was 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs.

Mathew Daugherty pitched six innings for the win, giving up four hits and two runs (one earned) while walking seven and striking out eight.

Klayton Justice worked two innings, giving up three hits and two unearned runs.
