The Soldotna Cycle Series starts Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Tsalteshi Trails sledding hill behind Skyview Middle School.

The series, which includes nine races and runs until Aug. 25, has a new name this year but will be similar to what was formerly called the Salmon Cycle Series and Tsalteshi Cycle Series, according to organizer Mark Beeson.

Beeson said the races will be about 10 kilometers long. The trails will start out easy and progress into more difficulty by the end of the series.

“It’s suited for all kinds of skill level,” Beeson said. “We’d like to keep it community-oriented and keep building on the good things that have happened the last couple of years.”

The races are put on by the Tsalteshi Trails Association, with Beemun’s Bike and Ski Loft serving as the main sponsor.

The price of each race is $5 for TTA members and $10 for nonmembers. Pre-registration for all nine races for $35 and is available until the first ride. Pre-registration is only available to TTA members. That pre-registration can happen online at tsalteshi.org, at Beemun’s or before the first race. Those wishing to become a TTA member, then register for the series, also can do so at tsalteshi.org.
