While the Peninsula Oilers chances at an Alaska Baseball League title are still very much alive, the chances of completing their 60-game schedule are taking a blow.

Mother Nature ruined a second straight day of baseball for the Oilers, who were rained out of an ABL doubleheader against the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks Wednesday evening at Lee Jordan Memorial Field in Eagle River. The pair of games will be made up July 29 and 31, according to the Chinooks.

Tuesday, the Oilers took an early 1-0 lead against the Anchorage Bucs at Mulcahy Stadium before rain interrupted play in the first inning. That game is scheduled to be resumed in early August.

The Oilers will face the Anchorage Glacier Pilots today at Mulcahy, starting with the resumption of a June 17 contest that had the Oilers leading 3-1 over the Pilots in the 12th inning when the stadium sprinklers kicked in and could not be turned off. The game will be resumed at 6 p.m., with the originally scheduled game to follow.
