The Peninsula Oilers held off the Anchorage Bucs 6-5 on Monday in Alaska Baseball League play at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.

The Oilers remain in second place at 22-19 in the ABL with the victory. The Oilers are 2 1-2 games behind the Mat-Su Miners, but a game ahead of the Pilots and three games ahead of the Bucs.

The Oilers conclude the regular season with a 5 p.m. doubleheader at the Bucs today and a 6 p.m. game at the Miners on Wednesday.

In the Monday game against the Bucs, reliever Andrew Bash proved he has a short memory.

Bash gave up a game-winning, walk-off grand slam Sunday in a loss to the Chugiak Chinooks, but came back Monday to pitch a scoreless ninth inning and record the save.

Zack Hamilton came through with a solid start for the Oilers, going 6 1-3 innings and giving up four earned runs on four hits.

The Oilers led 6-1 going into the bottom of the seventh when the Bucs struck for four runs. The big blow was a three-run home run by Hunter Kasuls off of Yi-Hsin Huang.

But Huang and Bash were able to hold the Bucs down the rest of the way.

The Oilers rolled up 13 hits in the game. Darius Hill was 4 for 5 with two RBIs, while Jonathan Washam was 2 for 5 with two runs scored.

Also for the Oilers, Jeffrey Chapuran was 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI, and Marshall Boggs was 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI.
