With dipnetting over, and time to spare on the Kenai Peninsula, the best destination to go to is Bird Homestead Golf course. This very unique course is loaded with history and fun people.

Larry Hamilton has been working hard to make this course the best course you will ever play on in the state of Alaska. While playing you may even forget you were in Alaska, and think you were at a country club in the Lower 48. We enjoy seeing new faces at the course. Stop by for a round of golf out on Mile 12 on Funny River Road.

Men’s night

Thirty-two guys came out Tuesday night to play men’s night and wish Roy Bird a happy birthday. Joel Overway crushed his drive on No. 5, winning long drive. Once again, Travis Robertson was one-man show on No. 7, winning pure birdie. Scott Sundberg landed closest to on No. 6.

With 32 guys, you can easily predict what happened when all the scorecards came in — a tie — and there’s only one way to settle it — the Bird Homestead Chip-off.

Three teams came in at minus-3. Ken Ubben landed closest to the pin to secure his team of Aaron Blackburn, Travis Robertson, Steve Skolnick and himself the first-place spot. James Kozel landed second-closest, winning his team of Richard Harman, Make Fastabend, Brandon Wold and himself the second-place spot. Men’s night is every Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. Come join the fun!

Ladies Night

Don’t hesitate to come out and join the fun on Wednesday nights, it’s not like we are serious golfers Wednesday night. We just like the fact that there are no men, and a just a bunch of ladies for the evening. We start every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Fact of the day

Bird Homestead Golf Course was established in 2004.
