Club play is still in full swing at Birch Ridge Golf Course.

Monday Seniors

We only had four players come out to brave the weather and compete. Sid Cox ended up taking low net with a 29, as well as making the longest putt on No. 9. John Davis hit closest to the pin on No. 6 and Mike Hollingsworth won No. 8.

Tuesday Ladies

Golf balls were going in from off the green, with Denise Cox and Tanya Boedeker both chipping in during their rounds. Denise also had the fewest putts, and Tanya had low gross. Trena Richardson took low net and the Mystery Hole went to Chiya Bazan. In total, there were six ladies that avoided the rain.

Tuesday Couples

We decided to cancel couples night due to rain at 4:30 p.m., which of course led to a beautiful sunny evening as soon as we made the decision. Better luck next week.

Wednesday Men’s Night

Eighteen golfers came out for men’s night, but birdies were scarce this week. Three teams tied with even par 35, splitting the pot three ways. The players were: Vic Hussey, George Stein, Tim Bowser, Scott Weekes, Jerry Norris, Tyler Yamada, Jake Eveland, Brock Kant and Rob Moore.

The teams were all threesomes. Pure birdie went to Jerry Norris on No. 4, long drive went to Tyler Yamada and closest to the pins were won by George Stein on No. 6, as the only person to hit the green, and Gary Davis on No. 8, getting within 12 feet.

Upcoming Events

Aug. 18 will be the Birch Ridge Golf Association Bassackwards Tournament. This is a great event that is a fundraiser for our junior program. This is your one chance a year to play the golf course in reverse! It is a shotgun start at 5:30 p.m., and is a four-person scramble with a handicap combination of 60 or more. You can make your own team, or if you are a single, we can work to build you one. Sign up NOW!

Aug. 27 and 28 is the sixth annual Kenai Peninsula Open. This is a two-day, stroke-play event with both gross and net payouts. It is a great test of golf for both professionals and amateurs. Sign up at the pro shop.
