CIA soccer opens season with pair of wins

The Cook Inlet Academy coed soccer team opened its 2016 season last weekend with a pair of wins over Wasilla Lake Christian and Lumen Christi.

CIA (2-0) defeated Wasilla Lake Christian 7-0 on August 19 behind a five-goal showing from Noah Leaf. Leaf notched a hat trick in the first half.

CIA coach Kenny Leaf wrote in an email that sophomore Logan Largent added “a superb volley from a cross in the first half”, and that Brady Hammond struck for a goal late in the second half.

On Saturday, the Eagles topped Lumen Christi 7-2 with a remarkable performance from Leaf, who bettered his Friday game by scoring all seven goals for CIA.
