The Cook Inlet Academy coed soccer team finished 2-1 last weekend on its “around the world” trip to the Interior.

The Eagles began the weekend with a 4-0 loss Sept. 1 to defending Borealis Conference champions Delta Junction.

“They graduated a slug of seniors last year, but they’re looking strong again,” said CIA coach Kenny Leaf.

Friday, CIA grabbed a tense 5-4 win over the TriValley Warriors in Healy. Eagles team captain Noah Leaf scored a hat trick, and James Anderson and Hunter Moos added goals as well.

Leaf also had a hat trick Saturday in a 5-0 win over the Nenana Lynx in Palmer. Brady Hammond and Breona Delon also scored, and Delon added a pair of assists. Hammond and freshman Ben Grossl combined for the shutout in goal.

The Eagles (5-2) are on the road again this weekend to Healy for the TriValley Tournament.
