Friday prep hoops: SoHi boys topple North Pole

The Soldotna boys pulled off a 50-34 win Friday over North Pole at Soldotna High School.

The nonconference game boosted SoHi’s overall record to 9-15.

West girls 52, Kenai 28

The Kardinal girls dropped a nonconference meeting Friday to the West Eagles in Anchorage.

The loss leaves Kenai with an 8-12 overall mark this year, including 4-10 against Class 4A competition.

ACS boys 62, Homer 53

After falling behind early, the Mariners could not complete a comeback Friday night in a loss to Anchorage Christian Schools in Homer.

In a balanced scoring effort, ACS got 15 points from Collin Smallwood, while Homer was led by Koby Etzwiler with 24 points, including 6-of-6 from the foul line.

After starting with an 18-13 first-quarter lead, ACS built its lead to 33-23 by halftime and never trailed from there.

ACS girls 46, Homer 18

Like the boys team, the ACS girls received a balanced scoring effort Friday night against Homer, getting points from eight players with nine points coming from Chaunice Carr.

Destiny Reimers, Kira Keller and Jordan Todd each had eight points for ACS. Homer was led by Rylee Doughty with six points.

Nikolaevsk boys 97, Wasilla Lake 57

Nikit Fefelov exploded for 51 points in a win over Wasilla Lake on Friday in Nikolaevsk.

Fefelov recorded 20 made field goals in the win, but only four from outside the arc, which is his usual specialty. Fefelov scored 30 points in the second and third quarters combined.

Additionally, Anfim Kalugin notched 19 points for Nikolaevsk. Wasilla Lake got 28 points from Jaden Kurtz and 24 from Jordan Auldridge.

Nikolaevsk broke open a six-point game by outscoring Wasilla Lake 30-9 in the second quarter, taking a 48-21 lead at halftime.

Nikolaevsk girls 50, Homer C Team 11

Vera Fefelov propelled the Warriors to a win Friday over the Homer C Team with 28 points.

Markiana Yakunin chipped in 10 points for Nikolaevsk, which held the Mariners scoreless in the second quarter to lead 26-6 at halftime.
