The American League and National League played to a 2-2 tie Sunday in the Alaska Baseball League All-Star Game at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.

Players from each of the ABL’s five teams were split to form the two teams. Because coaches planned to use all their pitching through the scheduled seven innings, the game was called a tie.

Oilers All-Stars played a big role in the game.

Kellen Strahm did the most offensively, notching an RBI single in his lone plate appearance to give the National League a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. The American League would come back to tie it in the top of the sixth.

Also from the Oilers, Mikey Hoehner was 1 for 1, while Nathan Webb was 0 for 3 and Thomas Ruddy was 0 for 2 in the game that featured just six hits.

Oilers pitcher Raymond Kerr got the start for the National League and pitched a perfect first inning.

Caleb Hicks also took the mound for the Oilers and gave up a run, hit and walk in one inning. Trent Paddon struck out one in a hitless inning of relief, while Michael LaBeau walked three and gave up an unearned run in two-thirds of an inning.

Oilers pitcher Devin Hayes also was an All-Star, but didn’t pitch because he was used in the Showcase.

Hicks and Webb competed in the Home Run Derby but didn’t make the second round. The title went to Nick Brooks of the Mat-Su Miners.

The Oilers begin a five-game home series against the Anchorage Bucs with a 7 p.m. game at Coral Seymour Memorial Park on Tuesday.
