Crawford goes 7 for 7 at Soldotna Cycle Series, Showalters take top women’s, youth spots

Mike Crawford improved to 7 for 7 in the Soldotna Cycle Series this season, topping the rest of the field at Tsalteshi Trails on Thursday.

For the first time this season, the race featured a single-lap, 10-kilometer race with a lot of singletrack, with slick trails providing an extra challenge. Crawford met the challenge by finishing at 27 minutes, 52 seconds, while Brian Beeson was second at 29:03 and Nathan Kincaid was third at 29:27.

Jen Showalter was the first women’s finisher, coming across at 36:18, also good for 14th overall. Morgan Aldridge was second at 38:55 and Mary Simondson was third.

The top youth rider was Landen Showalter at 40:26, with Ollie Dahl second at 54:33 and Madison McDonald third at 55:03.

There are just two races left in the series, and there will be no more kids races. The next race is Thursday at Tsalteshi Trails, with registration at 5:45 p.m. and racing at 6:15 p.m.
