Hitchcock wins Tustumena Fun Run

Becca Hitchcock led 23 runners, including seven Tustumena Elementary students, to the finish of the 2017 Tustumena 5K Fun Run on Saturday in the cold and rain in Kasilof.

Hitchcock crossed the line at 21 minutes, 55 seconds, while Sean Goff was second at 21:56 and Shari BeDunnah came in third at 22:34.

Proceeds from the race benefit student activities at Tustumena Elementary. JoEllen Fowler, race director, said local businesses like Sweeney’s and Kaladi Brothers made generous donations to the cause.

Age-group results follow:

9 and under — 1. Sasha Brott, 28:18; 2. Karalyn Veihdeffer, 28:19; 3. Neil Reutov, 31:43.

10 to 14 — 1. Jay Brott, 27:46; 2. Christopher Glaves, 28:04; 3. Riley Tucker, 30:15.

15 to 19 — 1. Breanna McConnell, 27:49; 2. Cameron Moore, 33:42.

20 to 29 — 1. Becca Hitchcock, 21:55.

30 to 39 — 1. Shari BeDunnah, 22:34; 2. Rustin Hitchcock, 22:37; 3. Amy Anderson, 28:07.

40 to 49 — 1. Sean Goff, 21:56; 2. Melanie Hollon, 38:27; 3. Brian Moore, 39:22.

50 to 59 — 1. Chisato Johnson, 29:13; 2. Maryjane Hadaway, 41:46.

60 and over — 1. Terri Cowart, 34:20.
