Ninilchik netters take split

The Ninilchik boys and girls split a pair of Peninsula Conference matchups Wednesday night with Lumen Christi in Ninilchik.

The Lumen Christi boys prevailed 80-37 over Ninilchik, while the Ninilchik girls won 43-28.

In the boys game, Andrew Bennett rocked the Wolverines with a staggering 42 points, hitting 17 field goals. Bennett had 13 points in the first quarter and had 30 by halftime. Bennett added 10 more in the third quarter before taking a seat on the bench.

In addition, Lumen’s Lam Puoy scored 24 points to add to the Archangels’ total.

George Nelson netted a team-high 14 points for Ninilchik, while Triston White had 12.

Lumen led 26-11 after one quarter and 53-15 at the half.

In the girls game, DeeAnn White and Isabella Koch each scored 15 points to lead the home team Wolverines. Koch hit 8 of 11 foul shots in her effort.

After taking a slim 9-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, Ninilchik outscored Lumen 13-6 to take a 22-13 halftime lead. The Wolverines led 30-21 after three quarters and held on to win.

Nikolaevsk boys 54, Kodiak ESS 29

Nikolaevsk cruised to a Peninsula Conference victory Wednesday night at home.

The Warriors rained down eight 3-pointers, led by the four from Isaak Fefelov, who led Nikolaevsk with 16 points. A night after pouring in 37 points against Nanwalek, Kalenik Molodih scored eight points, all in the first quarter.

The Warriors streaked out to a 24-4 lead after one quarter and led 37-11 at halftime.
