Monday hoops: Ninilchik girls, boys sweep Aniak

The host Ninilchik girls and boys basketball teams swept Akiak in nonconference action Monday.

In the boys game, the Wolverines topped Akiak 68-52. Ninilchik led 15-8 after the first quarter and 30-24 at halftime, but Akiak went up 46-44 after three quarters. The Wolverines owned the fourth quarter 23-6.

Garrett Koch had 24 points for the Wolverines, while Jake Clark had 12, Cole Hadro had 11 and Tristan White had 10. For Akiak, Arthur Phillip had 28, while Mark Ivan added 16.

The Wolverines won the girls game 52-40. Ninilchik took a 14-6 lead after a quarter and a 36-23 lead at halftime and was able to make it stand up.

DeeAnn White poured in 36 points to lead the way for the Wolverines, while Miranda Demientieff had 16 points and Shiana Williams had 13 for Akiak.

In other action, the host Soldotna junior varsity swept Cook Inlet Academy. The girls game was 54-18, while the boys game was 46-34.
