A field of 32 racers took on the 2018 Homer Epic endurance event Saturday in the Caribou Hills.

Racers had a choice of three modes of transportation — bike, run or ski — and three distances — 50, 100 or 150 kilometers. One lap consisted of 50K, starting and finishing at Baycrest Elementary, the trailhead for the Baycrest trails.

In the 100K bike, Joshua Duffus won the men’s race in a time of 7 hours, 53 minutes, and Bobette Rowe won the women’s race in 11:04. The 50K bike win went to Tracy Ballard in 4:19, while the top man was Patrick Goodrich in 4:28. Two bikers tried the 150K, but only finished two laps for 100K. Chris Robertson had the fastest 100K time of the day in 6:58.

In the 50K run, Jonathan Richner won in 4:26, while Lila Johnson was the women’s winner in 6:36. Only one runner, Fallon Connolly, tried the 100K, but finished just one lap in 8:28.

In the ski races, Stephanie Schmit won the women’s 100K race in 8:42 and Wilson Platt won the men’s 100K in 13:42. The lone 50K racer was Jennifer Bando in 4:41. Zack Strong started the 100K but only finished 50K, skiing the fastest lap of the day in 4:22.
