It's been a very busy fall/winter so far here in the Oilers office. Our roster for the 2014 season is almost complete and the schedule will be finalized within the week. We look forward to getting all this information out to you over the next few months.

The Soldotna hockey team gave goalie Cody Harvey a chance, and Harvey responded by getting his team a victory. Behind 22 saves from Harvey, the Stars topped Homer 2-1 in nonconference hockey action Tuesday night at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.

Kenai River Brown Bears forward Sebastian Fuchs, 17, has verbally committed to the University of Denver. "Denver hockeywise and collegewise sounded perfect," Fuchs said.

Kenai River Brown Bears coach Geoff Beauparlant returned to his former home ice on Friday and Saturday and left with two losses, as the Fairbanks Ice Dogs swept the weekend with wins of 3-1 on Friday and 5-1 on Saturday at the Big Dipper in Fairbanks.

The Kenai Central hockey team defeated Soldotna 6-3 on Saturday night at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex to win the Peninsula Ice Challenge. The Kards (3-0-1 overall) finished 2-0-1 at the tournament.

Kodiak, Palmer and Colony qualified for the Class 4A state volleyball tournament at the Northern Lights Conference tournament Saturday at Soldotna High School. Kodiak came back to win the championship Saturday.
